Power Generation, Distribution and Switchgear

This project overcame tremendous obstacles throughout construction including a subterranean shift of rock plates underneath the structure and a complete four month shutdown on manpower during the first phase.

We utilized:

  • roughly 1.4 million feet of concealed power and communication PVC conduit,
  • 64,000 feet of exposed EMT/GRC,
  • over 2.3 million feet of feeder, branch, control and medium voltage cable,

Project was completed on time even though only one week was allowed for the termination of over 1,000 control circuits for each UPS room. Major components of the system consist of distribution boards and volt main switchboards. To reduce downtime during ground fault scenarios, a high resistance ground system (HRG) was used. In the installation of the Isolation Parallel Switchgear/UPS controls and the HRG system, 1,440,000 feet of wire was used for more than 16,000 control circuits.
