This 700,000 square-foot office and data center is located on the grounds of the Federal Center Complex in Suitland, Maryland. It consists of 600,000 square feet of office space and a 100,000 square-foot parking garage.

Dynalectric installed the facility’s power distribution system, which originated on unit substations located in the central plant and fed four transformer vaults. The project also included a sophisticated cable management system, which provided all necessary information regarding the complete cellular deck system.

The emergency power backup system consists of six 1,000kw emergency generators with sequential paralleling switchgear. In addition, four 750kva UPS systems augment the emergency power backup system.

The project entailed the preparation of extensive, highly-detailed drawings, which were all generated by Dynalectric’s in-house coordination department.

Recognizing the company’s outstanding efforts on this project, the Washington Building Congress presented Dynalectric with a Craftsmanship Award for its power distribution systems.

General Contractor
Blake Construction Co., Inc.
Washington, D.C. This 900,000 square-foot headquarters complex, located on the Fort Belvoir military base, had extensive and unusual electrical system requirements. Because of their experience with projects of similar size and complexity, Dynalectric had the expertise to meet this challenge. The project included installing a 34.5kv pole line, seven 34.5kv substations, extensive ductbanks, and four 800kw generators/switchgear, as well as fire alarm, security, and uninterruptible power supply systems.

Dynalectric carefully coordinated all under-floor power and multiple communication systems with the facility’s raised access flooring subcontractor to ensure that the project remained on schedule.

Recognizing the company’s outstanding efforts on this project, the Washington Building Congress presented Dynalectric with a Craftsmanship Award for the electrical power systems installation.
